Joshua Lindquist: Wood Kiln Glass - Firing the
Kiln is a 12 minute movie about Joshua Lindquist
who makes art glass by firing the work in a wood
kiln on his land in western Washington.
Lindquist builds and fires wood kilns to
temperatures as high as 2,400 degrees and melts
glass, forming unique artworks.
Lindquist uses Pyrex, old bottles, optical glass
and many other found glass objects as material
for his sculptures. In this video, filmed and
edited by his father, sculptor and photographer
Mark Lindquist, Joshua explains the theory
behind the air intake and other aspects of the
firing process. Watch as Lindquist fires the
kiln, creating a hot bed for the creation of his
artwork.
